How FinChat answers

In the right order

It follows the order certified planners use: cash flow, emergency fund, insurance, then goals.

With real numbers

Answers work in rupees and timelines, and point you to the calculator that checks the maths.

For India and abroad

Indian tax and products like PPF, EPF and NPS, plus NRI topics like NRE/NRO, RNOR and PFIC.

What an answer looks like

My monthly expenses are ₹50,000. How big should my emergency fund be, and where should I keep it?
FinChat
  1. Aim for 6 months of expenses: ₹3 lakh (₹50,000 × 6). Go to 9–12 months if your income is irregular or you're the only earner.
  2. Keep it safe and easy to reach: a month or two in a savings account or sweep FD, the rest in a liquid fund.
  3. Build it before adding more equity: with ₹15,000 a month to spare, you'd reach ₹3 lakh in 20 months.

Frequently asked questions

What is FinChat?

FinChat is FinPlann's AI assistant. Ask about SIPs, mutual funds, old vs new tax regime, retirement, insurance or NRI money and it answers in plain English, following the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) order: cash flow, emergency fund, insurance, then goals.

Is FinChat free?

Yes, you can try it without signing up. A free FinPlann account adds a monthly allowance of questions, and Pro ($12/month) includes 200 a month along with answers based on your own plan.

Is FinChat financial advice?

No. FinChat gives general education, not personalised investment advice, and FinPlann is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser. Use it to understand your options, then check important decisions with a registered adviser.

How is FinChat different from ChatGPT?

FinChat is set up for Indian personal finance: current tax rules, Indian products like PPF, EPF, NPS and ELSS, and NRI topics like NRE/NRO accounts, RNOR and PFIC. With Pro it also reads your FinPlann plan, so answers use your real income, SIPs, goals and insurance.

Does FinChat see my bank account?

No. FinPlann never connects to your bank or brokerage. FinChat only knows what you type, plus the numbers you add to your plan if you are on Pro.

Can FinChat make mistakes?

Yes. Like any AI it can be wrong, especially on recent rule changes or unusual situations. Double-check figures with the linked calculators or official sources before you act.
